Taiwan Relations well - Air Nippon to End
excerpt: TAIPEI, Taiwan — The Japan Interchange Association, Japan's de facto embassy in Taiwan, and Taiwan's Foreign Ministry signed a landmark air travel deal in Taipei Thursday symbolizing a move toward normalization of Tokyo-Taipei ties 35 years after Japan switched diplomatic recognition from Taiwan to China.
The deal scraps flights to and from Taiwan by subsidiary airlines under Japanese carriers Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways to service Taiwan-Japan routes as a political sop to Beijing. The flights will now be run by parent companies JAL and ANA, instead of Japan Asia Airways and Air Nippon, which the carriers established in 1975 and 1974, respectively.
Although on a positive note, on March 30 the schedule on EL 2109 NRT-TPE moves from 11:40 - 14:45 schedule to 18:20 - 20:50. Really makes both departures from Tokyo and the connections from transpacific flights a lot easier.
The GDS will be updated mid-March to reflect the new changes.

I see there are listed now as UA codeshare flights on 767-300's? Any idea, do they offer in seat PTV's, or same older planes like JAA?
Starting Summer 2008 timetable.
Thanks.
Does anyone know when this is effective?
On my flight last night it was an older plane with the projection screen up front. My first time on ANA, and I was hoping for the in seat TV's.
I was able to book a TPE-NRT segment using UA miles last week.
EL21xx -> NH108x
Codeshare on EVA Air:
EL21xx -> NH58xx
